Live Stock Market Updates – Sensex, Nifty mildly higher, Metal Index top gainer

  • Markets are trading on a positive note wherein Nifty is hovering at 9990 level and BSE Sensex gained 52 points.
  • BSE Metal is the top gaining index in the morning session on Wednesday. It is up by 1.74% at 12,504. Vedanta is contributing majorly to the index gains and pushing it to higher levels.
  • Vedanta is trading up 2.22% at Rs 280.50 per share on BSE.
  • Other stocks in the index viz. Jindal Steel & Power is up 4.7% at Rs 146.50 per share, JSW Steel is up 2.6% at Rs 220.75 per share, National Aluminium is up 2.2% at Rs 72.25 per share, NMDC is up 2.2% at Rs 123.85 per share and Tata Steel is up 1.7% at Rs 563.00 per share.
  • At 10 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 32,291 up 62 points, while Nifty is trading at 9985 up 20 points. A total of 45 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trade today, while 13 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
  • The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.47% at 15,384 while BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.58% at 16,147.
  • All sectorial indices on BSE are trading on positive territory excluding BSE Teck index. 
  • Vedanta, Tata Steel and Eicher Motors are among the gainers while Bharti Infratel, Axis Bank and Asian Paints are losing on the NSE.

Opening Bell - Nifty, Sensex opens at all-time high

Equity tips:- The BSE Sensex opened higher by 91 points at 31896, while the Nifty50 opened higher by 21 points at the 9807 mark. ITC was top Sensex gainer and was trading at Rs 333.8 per share, up by 1.55% whereas ONGC was top Sensex loser and was trading at Rs 162 per share, down by 0.09% at the opening bell on Thursday. There were 995 advances, 375 declines and 475 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting strong positive sentiments in the market. All the sectoral indices on BSE were trading in positive territory. BSE Mid-cap index was trading at 15177 level, up by 93 points while BSE Small-cap index was trading at 15981 level, up by 84 points. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation was top gainer in Mid-cap index while Lypsa Gems was top gainer in Small-cap index. Muted opening likely for the markets

Equity tips:-   Indian markets are likely to start on a flat note on Monday tracking mixed cues from Asian peers. The SGX Nifty, which was trading at 10,036, remained almost unchanged, indicating a muted opening for the local benchmark indices.  Now, going ahead, the level of 10,100-10,120 will act as a key resistance zone for the Nifty50. The level of 9,920-9,940 is a good support zone for the Nifty50. Key results for the day: BEL, Hexaware, ICL, Indigo, Tech Mahindra, Godrej Consumer Products, Siemens, Shriram Transport, Torrent Pharma, UPL and V-Guard. Back home, Indian shares opened the last trading session of the week with a gap-down but recouped the early losses in the afternoon session to close flat.
